What we've been up to....

... nothing much really :-)

Baby Lucas was christened two weekends ago. JJ and I finalized everything in two days, I think (no official photographer, no invites, no giveaways... so do not be surprised if it took us 48 hours to finish everything. It was just a matter of choosing where to have the reception :-) ).
My realizations after the event:
  • It is not easy to be a host. As in. It was the first event that JJ and I hosted since our parents were basically the ones going around when we got married. Grabe pala. It was fun (true) but tiring :-) Siempre, we didn't want our guests to feel neglected so we have to go around. Like what one of my uncles said, you couldn't stay long in one table else you'd miss saying hi to your other guests.
  • Now we know why couples get an official photographer during these events.
  • RSVP sometimes work, but most of the time, it doesn't.
Lucas was asleep the whole time. He didn't even open his eyes when water was poured on his head.
I was supposed to go back to work last Monday (2 weeks early) but I had light bleeding Sunday so we decided to have myself checked the following day. My doctor said everything is okay and that I just have to monitor the bleeding. Either it's still lochia or if it is less than 7 days, my period. If it lasts more than 7 days, I should see her again ASAP. Good thing the bleeding stopped last night.

This coming Monday, I really have to go to work again as major activities in the project I am handling are set to begin. Hay, I'd have to leave Lucas na but then, that's life :-) I'll look forward to the long Christmas break na lang para I won't go back to work with a heavy heart.

Etc....

Yup, new look for my blog. Siempre, nakita ko kay Ann and I cannot help but check the available designs. Daming nice templates and it took a while for me to settle with this one.

I am on the 6th week of my maternity leave already (wahhh, lapit na ko balik work). Lucas and I have established a daily pattern already (sort of) and my baby usually wakes up 2 to 3 times between 11PM to 6AM. I am getting longer sleep these days. (yipee!)

Again, it hasn't been all rosy and there were pretty tiring times but all the difficulties seem trivial whenever Lucas prefers my "hele" over everyone else's (probably loves the "soft" me with all the fat that I am yet to lose) and whenever my baby boy giggles and coo at me. It is also scary as everyone believes that I can make him stop crying no matter what and somehow, I seem to be able to do so. I am amazed at how most of the time I am right in identifying the cause for his discomfort/ displeasure.

He's grown a lot and we no longer think that he's fragile. Oh dear, wala na nga leeg ang baby ko dahil tumaba na talaga siya :-) My only issue now is the fact that his eyes still have a little yellowish tint in them. Di ko siya masyado nasu-sunbathe in the mornings due to the weather (sunod sunod bagyo and ulan nang ulan). I am not sure if that is the cause for it but I am gonna take it up with his pedia this Friday. Lucas is also up for his 6-in-1 vaccine (hepB2, polio, etc.) this week and I hope hindi ulit siya lagnatin like the first time.

And now I would like to leave you with one of my boy's "awww cutie pie" pictures :-)

Our 30th Week

Countdown: At least 7 more weeks (hopefully) before Lucas pops out.

JJ and I started shopping for baby stuff and things we’d need in the hospital. Side kuwento: My mom was always telling me that I shouldn’t shop for Lucas before I turn 7 months (pamahiin, I think). So following her advice, I only started collating baby checklists on week 28. Week 29, I visited my parents and the first thing my mom tells me, “O, anak. Dapat complete na gamit ni baby. Kahit yung dadalhin lang sa hospital. Anytime kasi puede ka na manganak”. Nyak! I was like, “Ma, 1 week pa lang ako 7 months eh”. Mommies talaga But then I assured her that we will start shopping by week 30. Naku, Friday night, may mega-long SMS pa yung mom ko on what we should buy. Hay, sayang talaga that my mom cannot join us sa shopping due to her condition. Mas masaya sana

Week 30: Our first stop was SM Makati. I was told that the best place to buy baby stuff is in SM or Landmark pa rin. Coming from Park Square 1 parking, the walkway to SM will lead you to the children’s/ infants’ section of SM. Ikot ikot kami ni JJ and while checking out First Years baby products, the saleslady asked us if we’re shopping for baby. She informed us that I can register sa kanila and then everything included in my registry will be at 10% discount (sis Clarice from N@wie also told me about this). Even the stuff that we’ll be purchasing that day will be at 10% discount rin. Not bad right? Thinking that my baby shower will be in 3 weeks time, I listed that event na lang. So, I filled up the form and we were told to choose the items na and bring the items back to the registry counter for them to include the items in the list. JJ and I really want to avail of the 10% discount so we chose items that we’d be buying rin talaga kahit walang magbigay kay Lucas. Saya saya mag-shopping ha pero siempre pigil pigil rin because yung mga saleslady kanya-kanyang push ng product nila. We just bought the stuff we’d be needing sa hospital and several other items like sterilizer, nursing bib, diapers and other consumables. The other items, di na muna namin binili but we had included in our registry. We’ll be back na lang after the baby shower to purchase the items that Lucas will not get. We’re not really planning to register naman but since there’s a 10% discount, ok na since bibilhin at bibilhin din naman naming yung most of the items sa list. We only bought several sets of newborn clothes (specially yung mga pambahay) for Lucas pala kasi marami siyang nakuhang hand-me-downs from his cousins (from Ate Michelle’s boys and yung mga nalakihan ng 2 nephews ko). Buti na lang all-boys sila Hehe. Kaya dami dami cute na socks, etc ni Lucas. Ipapalaba na lang namin one of these days.

This weekend, we plan to arrange Lucas’ stuff sa cabinet niya and to pack na rin our hospital bag. Nyay, malapit na talaga ako manganak!

Sunday was Father’s Day. It was JJ’s first father day Mas masaya siguro next year kasi Lucas will be out of my tummy na to greet his daddy. Sunday kasi kicks lang ang bati niya kay JJ eh. We had lunch at my parent’s house (as usual, stars na naman ang mga nephews ko. kakaaliw talaga sila!) and we’re back at my in-laws in time for dinner. To JJ, daddypops, dadi Gani , my brother TJ and all daddies out there, Happy Father’s Day!

Sunday night, Nadal beat Djokovic in the Finals of the Artois Championships. Ha! Did I mention that it’s a grass court tournament? Well, Roger won a grass tourney rin in Germany but according to reports, he didn’t face anyone from the Top 10. Oh, I cannot wait for Wimbledon. Start na next week!

Random Pics:

Me at 27 weeks (I think).

22 weeks :-)

The other week was a crazy week for me and it obviously showed as I haven’t updated this site for two weeks now. But school’s finally over and I say that with a sigh of relief and happiness. No more paper! No more exams! (Well, at least, until I give birth in August).

I’m 22 weeks pregnant already. The past 16 weeks (since we found out we’re gonna be parents) has been one ride for me and JJ. From the spotting issues, to my losing weight during my first trimester to now feeling our baby’s thumps and kicks. Every experience has truly been amazing and we cannot help but feel blessed every time we cross a milestone.
Now that I am past the halfway mark already, the changes are a lot:

  • It was my and hubby’s decision to continue taking Metformin until the first half of my pregnancy. I had my last tab on week 20.

  • Since the spotting episodes have stopped (going three weeks now and hopefully, it won’t happen again), I also stopped taking Duvadilan. So, it’s just me and plain-old Clusivol OB.

  • I am having a little difficulty shifting from one position to another these days lalo na when sleeping. And naku, I do not know where to put my arms during mass. Haha :-) Before kasi I fold my arms across my upper tummy area. Kaya lang now, I cannot breathe na whenever I do that. Kaya rin siguro pregnant women always rub or touch their tummy (kasi nga nowhere else to place their hands).

  • I feel baby’s movements regularly na these days and I feel harder thumps now. Baby’s probably growing. JJ also felt / seen baby’s movements already. Ayan tuloy, konting “Ah ah baby” ko lang, nakahipo na agad yan sa tummy ko to feel baby’s movements :-)

  • I look pregnant. Hindi na lang sa damit na suot ko. I often tell people in the office nga na hindi na kaya ng stomach-in itago si baby.

  • I eat a lot these days. My appetite is back in full force. Di na ako maarte kumain and I am guessing that the scale is gonna do all the talking sa susunod namin na visit kay OB. But ok lang, so far naman 3 lbs pa lang na-gain ko. And sabi ko nga kay JJ, magsa-salad na lang ako lagi from month 7. Hehe :-P

  • JJ will be the one to cut my toenails from now on (unless I have a pedicure in a salon). The last time I tried, I was really sweaty from all the positions I had to take just to complete the task (Hirap pala to find a comfy position with your tummy out in front of you. But ok lang, no complains :-) realization lang.)

Hubby and I also attended the “Simply Maternal” seminar sponsored by Asian Hospital. The first session was held this morning. It was short but informative. Of course, they marketed AHMC’s OB-facilities (really nice but of course, it comes with a price). They also showed what would generally happen if you have your baby via normal delivery or via CS. The different types of anesthesia were also discussed. The open forums were also helpful as the lecturers were able to answer each query. At least now I kinda have an idea what to expect. The last session will be held next Saturday and it will be about post-pregnancy stuff like the screening tests for baby, breastfeeding and I heard that they will be teaching daddies stuff like how to swaddle-wrap babies, etc. (No excuse na si hubby when baby comes out :-) ).Freebies we got from the seminar :-)

We still do not know baby’s gender yet. My last ultrasound kasi nakadapa si baby so we weren’t able to take a peek. According to the sonologist, probably next month we’ll find out na. But baby’s spine is so defined na and we saw baby’s fingers. Thankfully, everything is ok and baby’s just the right size.

Time starts to fly now and JJ and I are joking that baka mamaya before we know it, we’re in labor na. Pero marami pa stuff to do. We haven’t even started shopping yet. We’ll do that in a month’s time siguro. Right now, I am just collating all the checklists I see online. And of course, I’d rather shop after finding out if baby’s gonna be a boy or a girl.

I’d probably blog about it the minute I find out baby’s gender. Hopefully we’ll know soon :-D
